Now not all secular music is wrong because they do not speak of such things that are sinful.
My question for you is why support a artist who in other songs speaks and does things that are sinful? Now you may say that everyone one sins so I guess listening to christian artist and people is sinful. The truth is it isn’t sinful. The reason why it isn’t sinful to listen to christian music even though they sin too is because they are striving to serve God. Are primary purpose is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. Christian artist are sinners to but they are in their music glorifying God and are enjoying it.
A few secular artists are wrapped up in their pride and so are living in sin and do not care about God or maybe don’t think that God exist.
Many Christian artist are trying to help those who listen to their music and give advice. They also show that God is their for His people.
Listening to christian music can be a very enriching experience, a experience that it would be good for more of us to take advantage of.
You can also listen to secular music as long as it is not against God’s Word But keep in mind “What you reap is what you sow.”
Your Brother in Christ for all who are believers in the One True God.

ok…well here’s what I think. You made a good point, but the thing is, to be honest I’m hooked on some of the artists that say those things. Let me give you an example…
I listen to Eminem. Plain and simple. I don’t listen to all or even half of his songs but I do listen to a few chosen songs. From what you’re saying, you’re calling me a sinner just because I listened to those songs. Not that I’m not a sinner but right there you are judging me. You are stereotyping people that listen to that stuff as sinners(we all are). But what I’m trying to explain is that I have good intentions in that song. I listen to it, to understand him. At first I HATED him, I hated eminem. But then I listen to songs like Mockingbird, When I’m Gone, Lose Yourself, and Like Toy Soldiers and those songs tell me about Eminem. They tell me that he’s had it rough. He’s been backstabbed, he’s been lied to, he’s been dumped with 2 kids while his wife went emo and ran away. etc… there’s a story behind his songs that helps me feel for him and in a way be able to connect with people taht I wouldn’t connect with cuz they act the way he does.
Listening to Secular music isn’t bad as long as you realize where they went wrong and you can go right. Also, if it has a moral or advice, you can share that with someone that is having the same troubles as the writer. you get it?
Everyone is a sinner but it is a sinner’s choice to live in sin or go to God and repent of their sin. I am not trying to judge you and as I said earlier in the post not all secular music is wrong. I simply saying that what a person listens to effects how they live by action and in thought. I have no right to judge but I do have the right to tell others to be careful and to think of what they are doing ans so that is what I am doing.
So yes I get what your saying. I have had a hard life to and have dealt with mine and many other peoples problems but that doesn’t mean that we should listen to music that tells us to do sinful things. So you realize that they went wrong and now you can relate with them. Thats not wrong but I myself have listen to alot of secular music before and I tell you the truth it effected me in a horrible way. My mind was filled with cursing and hate towards others and thats not right so I turned from it so that I may not sin against God for a sin is any thought, word, or deed that a person does and so I had sin and have turned away from the things that cause me to sin. That doesn’t mean I’m perfect because I’m not perfect at all but with Christ I am made perfect in God’s eyes even though I am a wretch.
Wow,
This is a great article.
I love it.
And not to critisize or anything, but like not ALL secular musicians are lost in their pride.
Because their are secular artists that are christians.
But, as I said, I love this article.
Especially the part saying that women are NOT objects.
I understand their is secular artist who are christians and that is why I mentioned that not all secular music is wrong. I personal think that people should just stay aware of what they listen too.
Yeah,
I agreeeee.
Ok lets try this post again… *sighs* i lost the whole post that i was going to comment
on
anyways…
I agree that people should be paying more attention to what they are listening to, and to become more aware of their musical surroundings. Music floods our lives daily, in the store, shopping mall, even in the car. It seems to never get away from us. Why is this? because music is so attracting. We love the sound, the sense and feelings that it gives us. However, most people do not actually pay attention to the types of music that they are listening to. For example, a few months back, i had a friend who was listening to a justin timberlake CD. When someone asked her about it, she said she was only listening to the CD for the music, because it was so good, and that she didn’t listen to the lyrics of the songs. However, when she was asked to sing one of the songs off the CD, she was able to sing it perfectly. She hadn’t realized how much of an effect those CD’s were making on her life. There is power in words, and power in songs. If you listen to a CD, without learning the background behind it, as to why the author wrote that song, you may as well be filling your head with ideas you don’t want. Especially listening to most radio stations. Their songs talk about hurt, defiling, break-ups, pain, drugs, suffering… ect… but their not the types of songs you want to be listening to, if you want to keep pure thoughts in your mind.
Daneil, i’d be very intrested in discussing a few other topics related to this with you, you can contact me at the email address above if you wish to do this. Excellent article, but you could have used a little more reference…
I don’t use much refrence so I don’t cause any problems that are not needed. I find it best to hear what others say and for me to speak little. That doesn’t mean though that I won’t stand up for what I believe it just means I won’t tangle myself up in what I say
